Origins
The Amsterdam '83 Conference on Evangelism brought together Pastor Aaron Agbor and James Campbell, a Canadian Free Methodist. Rev. Agbor was at the conference representing a group of evangelists whose goal was to reach all of Cameroon. The Christian Revival Evangelistic Association was begun in 1982, and by 1984 six local fellowships had been established. Campbell was invited to conduct crusades in Cameroon in 1984 and 1986. After his second visit, he left a copy of the Free Methodist Book of Discipline and a Yearbook for the leaders. Impressed by the emphasis on evangelism and holy living, they asked to become a Free Methodist Mission District in October of 1987. Due to a number of irregularities in the church, the Free Methodist Church of North America dissociated with the FMC in Cameroon in 2000. Present Ministries
In February 2003, Henry Church, then Africa Area Director, met with some faithful and concerned people regarding reorganizing the church. Rev. Charles Sone, the only ordained minister recognized by the Free Methodist Church, was appointed leader of the movement to restart the church. That reorganization has begun with good response. The church will be registered by the name Light and Life Mission. New leaders are being trained in how to operate as spirit-filled Free Methodists. Opportunities to support Cameroon ministries
