Origins
A Liberian graduate of West Africa Theological Seminary in Nigeria established a church plant in the capital city of Monrovia in 1998. At the beginning, the Free Methodist work in Liberia was partly sponsored by the Nigerian Church. Present Ministries
In May 2010 the church moved from church-in-formation to mission district status. Two pastors were ordained as elders, and Rev. B. Rufus Kahn, one of these elders, was appointed as national leader. Rev. Kahn, working with the Africa Area Director Mike Reynen, oversees 13 churches/church plants. Over a three year period beginning in 2007, missionaries John and Melinda Henry offered leadership and ministerial training to pastors and ministry leaders, preparing them for ordination. A total of ten classes and one workshop were taught. Several church buildings proceed in various stages of construction. One church, Cornerstone Free Methodist World Mission Church in Buchanan, Grand Bassa county, was completed and dedicated in June 2010. Ten new believers professed their faith in Jesus at the dedication ceremony. Learn more about Liberia
