Origins

A Liberian graduate of Wesley International Theological Seminary in Nigeria established a church plant in the capital city of Monrovia in 1998.  At the beginning, the Free Methodist work in Liberia was partly sponsored by the Nigerian Church.

Present Ministries

Three main groups are melding together to form one Free Methodist body in Liberia. John and Melinda Henry conduct Bible and Free Methodist training courses for leaders in several locations.

Many citizens are undereducated because their schooling was interrupted by civil war. In the post-war situation, jobs are scarce, even more so for those who only have an elementary or less education. Yet the church marches forward, and Free Methodist World Missions seeks ways to help Liberia put steady leadership in place.
