Origins
Contact between Jerry Coleman and the Emanuel Christian Centre in Arad, Romania, was established in the spring of 2000. The leadership of the church expressed interest in affiliating with the Free Methodist Church in the fall of 2002, and the affiliation process was initiated. The affiliation was approved by Free Methodist World Missions in the spring of 2004, and following a period of teaching, dialogue and interaction, a formal affiliation ceremony was held in May 2005. On June 2, 2010, Nelu Andres, pastor of the Emmanuel Christian Centre resigned his position as a pastor in the Free Methodist Church. On the following day, church members voted to follow Pastor Nelu and withdraw their congregation from the Free Methodist Church and work independently. The Free Methodist Mission in Romania supports the Oaza Ministries and its director, Laura Andres. In addition, missionaries Scott and Paula Dunn will continue to serve in Romania through church planting and other Kingdom-extending ministries. Learn more about Romania
