Origins
Contact between Jerry Coleman and the Emanuel Christian Center in Arad, Romania, was established in the spring of 2000. The leadership of the church expressed interest in affiliating with the Free Methodist Church in the fall of 2002, and the affiliation process was initiated. The affiliation was approved by Free Methodist World Missions in the spring of 2004, and following a period of teaching, dialogue and interaction, a formal affiliation ceremony was held in May 2005. Missionaries Scott and Paula Dunn work alongside the national leadership of Emanuel Christian Center, helping them to develop vision and strategies for impacting the city and the surrounding areas with the gospel. Pastor Nelu and Nellie Andres lead the congregation, which also serves as the church family for the children of Oaza Children’s Homes—a residential ministry to orphaned and abandoned children.
