  • FMC Membership: 865
  • Ordained Ministers: 1
  • Ministerial Candidates: 18

Origins

In 1977 Shonori and Yoneko Sugiyama, from the Pacific Coast Japanese Conference, began evangelistic work among the Japanese in Buenos Aires. Their support came from the Pacific Coast Japanese Conference and Japan. In 1979 the first Free Methodist church was organized on the outskirts of Buenos Aires.

Present Ministries

In 2009, a local leader, Sasaki, became a conference ministerial candidate. He was appointed to lead the Nikkei Church in Buenos Aires as part of the Argentina Mission District.

Missionaries from Chile, Ricardo and Maria Elena Guerrero, began ministry among Spanish speakers in 1994. Now Maria Elena pastors a strong mother church in Carmen de Areco, while Pastor Ricardo serves as District Leader for both Argentina and Uruguay. The mission district includes a cluster of churches in the Province of Buenos Aires, three churches in the south of Argentina, and a growing network of contacts and groups in the capital city of Buenos Aires.
