Origins

In 1977 Shonori and Yoneko Sugiyama, from the Pacific Coast Japanese Conference, began evangelistic work among the Japanese in Buenos Aires. Their support came from the Pacific Coast Japanese Conference and Japan. In 1979 the first Free Methodist church was organized on the outskirts of Buenos Aires.

Present Ministries

The Pacific Coast Japanese Conference transferred the administration responsibilities for the two Japanese churches to Free Methodist World Missions in 1998 to support this mission district with both finances and personnel. In March 1994, the first Spanish-speaking Free Methodist church was opened in Carmen de Areco, a city of 12,800. Pastor Ricardo Guerrero leads this ministry, which now includes seven works.  In 2005 the Guerros and Pastor Enrique Llanos began Bible studies in the city of Buenos Aires. These studies are projected to grow into church plants.
