Origins
The Free Methodist Church in Nicaragua was planted through the efforts of the Costa Rican FMC in 1995. Nicaraguan leaders with a heart for ministry were identified and recruited by Costa Rican Superintendent Jorge Gomez. Present Ministries
At present, there are three congregations meeting in the capital city of Managua and several preaching points in the country’s interior. Property has been purchased and four church facilities have been built with the assistance of VISA teams. A school in the René Polanco neighborhood of Managua opened in early 2004 to provide education to underprivileged children. The church is led by Pastor Hiuberth Zapata and a team of elders from Costa Rica who simultaneously lead the Nicaragua and Costa Rica Mission Districts.
