Origins
In 1996 Chilean church planter Luis Muñoz was sent to Uruguay to establish the Free Methodist Church. After one year of studying at a missions school in Montevideo, Luis began canvassing the city and selected a target neighborhood. Uruguay is known as the most secular of all Latin American countries because it separated the church from the state decades ago. This is unique in Latin America. Present Ministries
The Uruguayan Free Methodists have developed a strategic plan called “Ruta Cinco” for planting new churches along the country’s principle highway, “Route Five.” Three churches have been established along this highway, and two more are being planted. New churches are being opened in Montevideo also. Manga, a neglected sector of Montevideo, benefits from a ministry to children provided by the central church. Plans are underway to begin an institute in one of the Montevideo churches. Learn more about Uruguay
