Origins
A Venezuelan couple, Alexis and Dorys Ramirez, became a part of the Free Methodist Church while doing graduate work in Ypsilanti, Michigan. They returned to their hometown in Maturin, Venezuela, in July 1984, determined to plant Free Methodist churches. In December of that year, the first Free Methodist church was organized. In 1989 a new church was planted in the capital city of Caracas. Present Ministries
International Child Care Ministries is helping to provide Christian schooling for children who cannot afford to attend school. A seminary for ministerial candidate training has been established. The Maturin church is growing and finishing the construction of a new sanctuary, a new elementary school for 300 children, a secondary school, and a medical/dental clinic, and is also planting of several new churches around Maturin. The Caracas congregation recently purchased and renovated a property for their church building after years of meeting in rental facilities.
