Origins
The work in the Middle East, beyond Egypt, began in 2002 when a Free Methodist North American missionary family moved to Amman, Jordan, and began networking with and ministering to Iraqi refugees residing in Amman. A key Iraqi leader affiliated with the Free Methodist Church in the fall of 2003 and became our first ordained FM Iraqi pastor. Through his contacts, a FMC was established in Amman, Jordan, which focused on Iraqi refugees. This church then planted a daughter church in Baghdad, Iraq, in the summer of 2003. Present Ministries
The Free Methodist Church in Jordan now has two churches. An Egyptian pastors the first church, which was begun mostly among Iraqi refugees but, in the past year, has been in transition to focus on the local Jordanian population as most Iraqis in Jordan have immigrated to the West. A young Jordanian pastor, recently ordained, gives leadership to the second church which has seen significant growth in the past year. Both of these churches are spiritually vibrant and have tremendous potential. Outreach
