Jema helps her sister study at a Child Care hostel in India. Not too long ago these girls lived on a train station platform where they helped their mother sell toys to passengers. Today, thanks to International Child Care Ministries, they have a roof to sleep under, three meals a day and an education they would have never been able to get without sponsorship.

In 1966 Dr. Alton Gould started the first Child Care school in Hong Kong. That first school met on a rooftop of a Hong Kong housing project. After visiting India and Africa, Dr. Gould felt a burden to expand to other countries. Today Child Care Ministries is changing thousands of lives in 30 countries. Although the first school in Hong Kong is no longer there, the children who first attended are now able to sponsor children in other countries.  

International Child Care Ministries provides an education, daily meal, a school uniform and medical care for needy children. Sponsors make all of this possible though contributions of $21 per month ($30 in Canada). This gift is an investment in a relationship that changes not only the life of the sponsored child, but also that of the sponsor, as they get to know the child.

A child’s life improves the moment sponsors begin their support. Children respond positively to the loving concern provided by the financial sacrifice of their sponsors.

Through people like you, we’re sponsoring more than 20,000 children around the world, and helping an additional 15,000 through our special funds and the exchange on the U.S. dollar in the countries where we minister. These children have faces, names and families. I’ve seen their hunger, their diseases and their despair. I’ve also seen the difference sponsors make in the lives of these children.
