MISSIONS FUNDING PLAN
Free Methodist missionaries are supported by local churches and individuals who are committed to pray for them and give toward their ministry. Through the FMWM funding plan, these supporters are given the opportunity to invest in long-term relationships, ministry partnerships and family-like connections that span the world.
The Missionary Support Team
All extended-term missionaries will have support in place which meets the following criteria:
A. Prayer Support
Each single missionary will have no less than 200 individual prayer supporters; each couple or family will have no less than 300. The missionary is responsible to have the minimum prayer support base in place before leaving for or returning to the field.
B. Financial Support
1. Before leaving for or returning to the field, each missionary is responsible to raise a specific support amount. This figure includes a fixed amount common to all FM missionaries, including salary, insurance and basic benefits. Each missionary will raise an additional variable amount based on their field expenses and area budgets. Factors in this figure include: children’s education, rent, utilities, travel, etc. The figure is calculated with the field chairman and area director.
2. Each missionary (or missionary family) will have a specific account. Giving from conferences, churches and individual is to be designated to that specific missionary support account.
3. Each local church and individuals are asked to make an ongoing commitment to one or more missionary support account.
4. Each missionary will partner with a limited number of supporting local churches.
5. The date for new missionaries to go on salary will be determined by FMWM. New missionaries may not be sent to the field until 100 % of both their prayer and financial support is in place and approval is given by FMWM.
